“What are they brewing up?”
January 7, 2014
In 2009, Cindy Young received word that the current owners of Java Jolt were interested in selling. She already knew it was an incredible place with an incredible location in the middle of Jacksonville’s Square, which people were frequenting to enjoy a cup of coffee, and Cindy hated to see it go.
Cindy Young took over ownership in October of 2009. With her vision of providing Jacksonville visitors and residents more than coffee, but a place to come, study, meet small groups, Java Jolt now provides delicious food and drinks in a comfortable and pleasant home-like atmosphere. Cindy also wanted to provide a place for her kids to learn how to work and what hard work means. Her daughter Kimberly, who once worked Saturdays or whenever she was home from school, moved back from Auburn last December to manage the restaurant and shop.
Each Monday through Saturday morning, Java Jolt serves up everything from Cinnamon Rolls, Scones, and cookies to a Morning Jolt, the savory baked eggs with spinach, artichoke spread and cheese Panini. For lunch, they dish out delectable Chicken Salad sandwiches or salads, flavorful Paninis, like the Tuscan Chicken with basil pesto, mayo, sundried tomatoes, provolone cheese and Italian seasonings, and more.
Drink wise, Java Jolt has it all, from Iced White Chocolate Carmel Mochas to Hot Chocolates and Chai, also known as Christmas in a cup.
Java Jolt also offers live entertainment, featuring the JSU Jazz Group on Mondays and local artists upon availability. The Coffeehouse is also happy to host groups, like knitting groups and Bible Studies, which already make Java the meeting place.
“If you invest in your customers, they invest back,” says Cindy. “Customers know us and support us, and we have some we know so well that we are fixing their drinks before they order. We’re not your typical restaurant. If it’s possible, we’re going to do it, and we’ll fix that sandwich for you at 7:30 a.m.”
Java Jolt’s atmosphere reflects Jacksonville. It is very family and community oriented, and they focus on forming relationships with others and serving their public.
Check it out! Java Jolt is taking orders for the holidays, so if you need a quiche, a cake or breakfast to serve, they’re always baking! Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to check out the latest treats!
