Restaurant Week: Day 9
October 9, 2014
So much good food, so little time….
For restaurant week, they’re not just doing one special but three for dinner! If you looking for something light, try the Lemon-Cajun Shrimp and add on a house salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette. The salad is topped with onions, candied pecans, lightly candied, goat cheese. This is a tasty side for any entrée. The Appetizer of the Lemon Cajun Shrimp is delectable. The flavor packed Cajun seasoning is cut down by the lemon herb sauce, but is a nice cool fresh flavor added to the dish. Go see them! They have a great selection of craft beers and drinks for any evening. Overlooking Quintard, they’re now serving Wednesday through Saturday from 5-9 P.M.
Located on 21, north of Anniston and just south of Jacksonville, Heroes grill dishes out some good food. With menu items like their Mushroom Swiss burger and signature Fire in the Hole, Thursday Night German Food and more, Heroes has something for everyone. During Restaurant Week, they spotlight their new Bacon Egg Cheeseburger, topped with melted American Cheese, Bacon, a fried egg and drizzled with BoomBoom Sauce and Ranch. It’s as good as it sounds, and you know you can’t go wrong with bacon. With a side of fries, Heroes went above and beyond and included an appetizer of crunchy fried dill pickles, seasoned in a southern style batter with a little kick.
This Deli, located in Oxford next to the Quintard Mall, is known for their sandwiches and sweet tea. For Restaurant Week, their serving a club for dinner and a pick 2 for lunch. My favorite hot sandwich is the Turkey Melt, loaded with smoked turkey, bacon, sharp cheddar, lettuce and spicy brown mustard on a multigrain roll. Now, you can even order a Southwest Turkey Melt, topped with pepper jack cheese, guacamole and chipotle ranch on a ciabatta! It’s always a good idea to choose a soup for the side too.
Located on 431 in Alexandria, this pizzeria boasts a restaurant week special the whole family can enjoy, with $24.99 for an 18 inch one topping pizza, 4 drinks and a starter or dessert! They’ve entered the “Don” in the Taste of Calhoun County, but the WiseGuy pizza, Chicago style is delicious! Topped with peppers, onions, olives, ham, pepperoni, banana peppers, and more topped with tomato sauce, this pizza is packed with flavor and encircled with amazing crust.
