Chamber Spotlight: Division of Organizational Development
January 16, 2015
The Chamber has five departments of focus for our strategic plan: Program Development, Public Affairs, Organizational Development, Tourism, and Business Development.
Organizational Development focuses on member retention, recruitment, signature Chamber events, and our Ambassadors Program. Through member visits, campaigns and programs, the Chamber is able to manage feedback gathered from members and incorporate those ideas into our Plan of Action.
Our Ambassadors are volunteers, who act as representatives of the Chamber, working vigorously to enhance member relations. Through their active role and participation in ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and events, the Chamber is able to better serve our membership. Ambassadors grow personally and professionally by connecting with local business leaders to build lasting relationships.
You’ve just opened your new business or are planning to commence construction for your new building. You want to celebrate and have the community recognize your businesses’ growth. Ribbon Cuttings with the Chamber are the perfect way to do that, and the Chamber offers free ribbon-cutting ceremonies for its members! Ribbon Cuttings are a celebration at the Chamber, and typically, these celebrations are held during normal business hours and feature light refreshments provided by the business. The Chamber brings the ribbon and scissors and helps publicize your celebration.
The Chamber’s monthly signature events include Business After Hours and Business & Biscuits. These signature events are for Chamber members only. Business After Hours are held the third Tuesday of every month and are regarded as the area’s best networking opportunity, offering guests the chance to meet people representing products and services in a relaxed, social setting. People do business with people they know, so it’s always a great way to come meet and mingle with fellow members.
Business and Biscuits are the monthly, morning networking opportunity for members, held on the first Thursday of each month at various Chamber member locations. This Chamber event often includes ice-breakers like Getting to Know You, Elevator Speeches, and Speed Networking. It’s always a fun option, and you’ll immediately see why some members regard this event as their favorite.
The Division of Organizational Development also spearheads our monthly member orientation, showcasing and informing attendees of the many opportunities available for Chamber members.
