Chamber Celebrates Annual Meeting
January 30, 2015
At the Annual Meeting, each year, we celebrate the many successes of the past year and preview our exciting plan of action for the coming year, as we swear in the new Board of Directors and announce the Chairman’s Cup Recipient and Ambassador of the Year. At the Anniston City Meeting Center on Thursday, January 29, the gavel was passed to Brian Woodfin of ABS Business Systems, 2015 Chairman of the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce.
More than 300 members and community leaders met and connected at the 36th Annual Meeting, the first of 2015’s premiere Chamber events. The event also featured a keynote address from E.C. “Cris” Stone, Vice Chairman of the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
Ambassadors are volunteers who act as representatives of the Chamber, working vigorously to enhance member relations. Through their active role and participation in ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and events, the Chamber is able to better serve our membership. Some Ambassadors go above and beyond what is expected, well representing their business and the Chamber in the community. This year’s Ambassador of the Year, Angela Alvarez of the Mark Lee Nationwide Insurance Agency, always works diligently to engage our Chamber members and offer support to the Chamber.
Angela attends almost every ribbon cutting and serves as a greeter and host to new members at frequent Chamber events. Angela is being recognized today for surpassing goals and reaching out to visit Chamber Members and encourage new businesses to get involved.
With the Mark Lee Insurance Agency, Angela specializes in designing an insurance plan that meets the needs of her clients. She is a native of Anniston, a graduate of Anniston High School, and a graduate, receiving two education degrees, from Jacksonville State University. Prior to her insurance career, Angela spent fifteen years as an elementary school teacher. She is also the proud mom of two girls and enjoys spending her free time with them.
Angela is also the Chamber’s 2015 Ambassador Chair. Angela is passionate about connecting people together in business and building relationships. Thank you Angela for your work and support of the Chamber!
Each year, the Brenda Dozier Hollis Chairman’s Cup is awarded to recipients for their efforts, hard work and dedication to the community. Brenda was dedicated to this Chamber and served as an advocate for getting new leaders and younger people involved with the Chamber. These honorees work tirelessly to grow the Chamber and its programs to truly represent and engage our dynamic business community.
Phil Webb, the 2011 Chamber Chairman, and John E. Blue, II, the 2012 Chamber Chairman, were presented with the Chairman’s Cup at the 2015 Annual Meeting for their work in the 2014 March Madness Membership Campaign. These two men spearheaded the Campaign, growing the Chamber Membership by 213 new members. Thanks to their efforts, our membership and volunteers, during 2014, we became the Largest Chamber in Central Alabama. Thank you, Phil and John, your fellow volunteers and team members for your efforts and support of the Chamber.
Thank you to our sponsors of the 2015 Annual Meeting!
