Member Driven: The Chamber’s 37th Annual Meeting honors volunteers.
January 29, 2016
At the Annual Meeting, each year, we celebrate the many successes of the past year and preview our plan of action for the coming year, as we swear in the new Board of Directors and announce the Chairman’s Cup Recipient and Ambassador of the Year.
2015 was a very successful year for the Chamber. This can all be credited to great volunteers. Each Year, the Brenda Dozier Hollis Chairman’s Cup is awarded to recipients for their efforts, contributions and dedication to the Chamber and our communities. Brenda was dedicated to this Chamber and served as an advocate for getting new leaders and younger people involved with the Chamber. This year’s honorees have worked tirelessly to grow the Chamber to truly represent and engage our business community and region.
For those who don’t know, one of the many accomplishments of 2015 was the relaunch of the Chamber’s 8th Grade Career EXPO. Gayle Macolly and Eastman, along with many other volunteers, spearheaded that event’s organization. Besides that, Gayle also served as our Program Development Chair and oversaw the revitalization of Leadership Calhoun County in 2015.
For those that do not know Julia Segars, from the arts to CORE 4 and Economic Development, Julia and Alabama Power are extremely involved in our communities. Besides previously serving as our Chamber Chair in 2013, Julia serves on numerous boards and committees in the east Alabama region.
Both of these honorees represent the Chamber’s Partnership Investors and contribute to the growth and future of the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. Thank you, your staff and fellow volunteers for your efforts and support. Thank you for joining us and taking on the responsibility to serve our public, providing events and resources for businesses and our community.
Ambassadors are volunteers who act as representatives of the Chamber, always working to enhance member relations. Through their active role and participation in ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and events, the Chamber is able to better serve our membership. Some Ambassadors go above and beyond what is expected, well representing their business and the Chamber in the community. This year’s Ambassadors of the Year are always there, working tirelessly and diligently to engage our Chamber members and offer support to the Chamber.
Wade Childers works at ServPro, and James O’Rear works at Floating Fun and WDNG. They both attend almost every ribbon cutting and serve as greeters at most Chamber events. Today, we recognize these gentlemen for surpassing goals and encouraging Chamber Members and new business to get involved. Thank you both for your work and support!
