ROSE Awards 2018

ROSE is an acronym for Recognition of Service Excellence. This recognition honors those who go beyond expectations and their job description to make everyone feel welcome in Calhoun County, by providing exemplary service and customer satisfaction and positively enhancing visitor experience during their stay. From Hotels and Attractions to Restaurants, these individuals work in the hospitality industry and provide direct support to visitors and customers. Those we are honoring were nominated by their bosses, their public and their co-workers.


Yvonne Adams from Fairfield Inn & Suites was recognized for her resilience in overcoming challenges, so she can focus on guests.

Sharon Barnes from the Alumni House at JSU was honored for working with everyone, from a bride and groom to those celebrating homecoming and representing the “Friendliest Campus in the South.”

Sarah Burke at the Anniston Museums & Gardens was recognized for incorporating many new programs, fuelling the excitement of guests and her co-workers.

Honoree Gwen Cherwaty at Panera Bread Oxford is known for always being early, going the extra mile and providing dependable and great customer service.

For years, Kristy Farmer has gone above and beyond to serve her customers and co-workers at the Peerless Saloon & Grille, literally being on call 24/7.

Victoria Ginn was recognized by customers at Fuji Japanese Cuisine for the welcoming experience she provides as hostess.

Tydricka Groce is known for being friendly, authentic, thoughtful and caring, and in her first few months at Hampton Inn & Suites, she has already received comments from guests on her customer minded, detail oriented quality of work.

With more than 20 years of service industry experience, Cyrus Hill wows guests and supports his team with his contagious positivity to a special flare for detail at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

 Deanna Jones is recognized for going above brand standards and lending a hand wherever it is needed at the Hampton Inn Jacksonville.

Christy Kowatch is known for putting guests at ease and cutting up with them at the Hampton Inn Jacksonville, addressing them by name and making sure they are well taken care of.

Recently, a family called to thank our Kellie McClanahan for the care she took of them, while they were here for a funeral, and as a front desk agent at Courtyard by Marriott, she went above and beyond and even provided a caring ear and comforting shoulder during a tough time.

Honoree Katina Shellings works like clockwork, setting an example for her team, earning the trust of guests, and exuding a positive attitude at the Home2 by Hilton.

For more than 30 years, Nancy Turner has served many weddings and homecoming celebrations at the “Friendliest Campus in the South,” JSU.

Gerald Walker can troubleshoot and solve almost any issue that may arise for a guest, and he also leads the Hilton Garden Inn organization and training of his team, holding everyone to high standards of quality.

Timothy Beard has guests at Hotel Finial raving about him going the extra mile and making each wedding, shower, brunch and group meal perfect.

Mary Safford goes the extra mile at the Hotel Finial, to show she genuinely cares about the hotel, guests and co-workers, and her experience and dedication make her versatile for more positions.

Hotel Finial Honoree Sarah Watson maintains a positive attitude, while going above and beyond to provide excellent service and be a team player.
